This is a unique 'alternative' travel site with a focus on the needs of personal retreats and vacations during these hard economic times.  This site has several goals.


Objective A:  Do it yourself Adventures

  • We subscribe a unique philosophy of travel, vacation and DIY (Do it yourself) adventure that is sometimes called "Immersion Travel."   We encourage focus on the "quality" of the travel, retreat or adventure as we offer insights for DIY voyages.  Our staff of experts (or "Road Scholars") completely enjoy the experience of becoming completely immersed with live on the road and offer guidance on how you can do the same.

We applaud the work of the Los Angles Urban Rangers who have undertaken educational projects and published maps to inform the public on access rights to the Malibu Beaches. 

L.A. Urban Rangers

(From the home page, click "Events" in the tour bar and choose "Malibu Beaches" and you can download a map of public access to the beautiful California coast....Many residents in the area hang illegal "No Parking" and "Private Property" signs to dissuade people from using public lands.  The Maps clarify the Private and Public usage rights and the effort was initiated by the US Park Service to help clarify many long held misconceptions.  Efforts like those of the Urban Rangers offer free resources for a private getaway or retreats one would otherwise not even know were possible.  We hope this website will continue the same tradition of excellence and service as has been rendered by the LA Rangers ). 

  • This site is continually updated and has links for world travel and grand getaways.  We will continue to offer travel postings on every scale.  Considering these economic hard times with so many people out of work, the need to reevaluate and plot a new course has never been more important for so many.  For the next few months, we will focus on "outdoors" adventures.  The affordability of Parks, Campsites, and public lands can offer many avenues to design a getaway even with limited resources.  We also feel that some of the insights and experiences we can share in areas like arranging ones gear in a trail pack have applicability to the international jet setter packing their suit case....at least, that has been the personal experience of our many Road Scholar that many of the same travel skills that apply. 

  • Many of our Road Scholars have extensive backgrounds in the design of consumer products, and as pilots, sailors, migrant workers, missionaries, hobos and international consultants.   Many businesses we present on this website offer coupons, sales and discounts as well as unique products and services of value.  We present many of these offers when they become available, and offer cost saving travel strategies on how they can be effectively used for their greatest advantage.

  • We hope to spotlight exotic ports of call and offer epic tales of travel, adventure and wonder by offering a graphic novel and animated YouTube depiction of epic tales.   You can join our heroes as they span the globe, as they illustrate hidden travel treasures and secrets from the "road less traveled," even if you cannot venture beyond your own backyard.  
  • If you are one of the many who must delay your dream vacation or trip of a lifetime during these hard economic times, we will try to rekindle those dreams and goals you hold.  We hope our stories and spotlights can keep you connected to your dreams....while exploring ways to make them come true....and in the meantime, help discover more of what is within your reach today.

Additionally, whenever possible, we will try to suggest support for Unicef and other UN online volunteer efforts.  You do not need to travel the world in order to be more connected to it.
